In this article, first published in 1951, the author traces the roots of Gaganendranath Tagore’s powerful cartoons and caricatures of the socio-polical scenario of early 20th century Bengal. These cartoons have not lost their relevance even now. Especially when a brutal war is being fought in India between the State and her people, who remained neglected and exploited for so long.
